William Shakespeare of Stratford-Upon-Avon, England is without a question the most widely recognized playwright of all time. Born in April 1564, the 37 plays and 154 sonnets the man known as the Bard contributed during his 52 years on Earth would cement him forever as the foremost commander and pioneer of the English language.
This website was created with the intention of giving you a better understanding of the time and circumstances in which the Bard was writing as you begin your study unit, as well as to shed some light on what little is known about the personal life of the man himself. It is my hope that this website will prove a helpful jumping-off point as you dive into the wildly entertaining world of Shakespeare.
Use the page tabs in the top navigation bar to switch between different sections of the site, and as Shakespeare would put it, may "good luck go with thee!"
